Origin, classification and history

Origin: Morocco.
F.C.I classification: Group 10 - greyhounds.

The Arabian Greyhound or Sloughi is a breed present for millennia in North Africa. It is in all probability native to the Orient. The Arabs, who despise all other dogs, consider this a noble animal, together with the other "sacred greyhound", the "Saluki". In his homeland he was called Sloughi, which is still his original name. An Arab legend says that when a Sloghi sees a gazelle that is cutting a blade of grass it reaches it before it has finished chewing it.

General aspect

Large dog. Morphologically classified as Graioid type. It has an accentuated bone structure, dry musculature and finesse of the tissues. His head is more important than that of the "Greyhound", but without being massive.

He is a very robust dog. He can live in an apartment, but requires a lot of movement. They say he is the most intelligent of greyhounds. Reserved for strangers. Very sweet and affectionate in the family. He behaves politely in the house and is very clean. It is not very suitable for children. In the family he is silent and discreet, he never reveals himself as intrusive. He barks very little.

It even smacks of insanity, but without this the post would have turned out to be mundane and boring, like hundreds of others.
